With sustainability and environmental stewardship serving as a cornerstone of company culture, TicketNetwork celebrated Earth Day in multiple ways this spring. From engaging employees with an Earth Day tree planting event, encouraging staff to enjoy the nature trails and animal sanctuary on our capmus, to highlighting the ongoing environmental benefits of a solar array on our headquarters building roof, TicketNetwork was proud to put this key facet of our company front and center in April.
“Earth Day is a natural time for everyone to reflect on our environment, and think of ways that we can make decisions as both individuals and as a business with sustainability in mind,” says TicketNetwork Chief Financial Officer Chris Hummer. “We are proud of our record here as a company that strives to do just that, and celebrate our long-running Green Initiative both on Earth Day and throughout the year.”
On Tuesday, TN’s facilities staff will lead a tree planting effort in the company’s garden and orchards, learning how to properly plant and maintain trees. Visible for passers-by on Interstate 84, our company HQ has extensive garden and orchard acreage, where fruit and vegetables are grown – used by our kitchen staff in meal preparation as well as for all staff to take home to their families.

Also visible from the highway is the centerpiece of the Green Initiative – a 1.4MW solar panel installation atop the building roof – one of the largest such installations in the area.
Since its PTO (permission to operate) date in May of 2019, the environmental benefits from the solar array have been enormous:
- More than 6.5 million kWh of power generated using solar energy – used both to power building operations and shared back to the grid whenever there is surplus
- Energy savings equivalent to the burning of 7,836 barrels of oil
- Carbon offset of nearly 7.5 million pounds
- CO2 offset equivalent to the planting of nearly 90,000 trees
It is estimated that the roof system – comprised of 4,365 individual 315 watt solar panels that cover nearly all of the available space atop the building – reduces the building’s reliance on electricity from elsewhere by nearly 70 percent.
With the sun shining on Earth Day Monday, the solar roof has provided a carbon offset of more than 5,500 pounds and 66 trees planted already, and those benefits will continue long into the future.
