TicketNetwork Already Seeing Major Environmental Benefits from Rooftop Solar Array
South Windsor, Connecticut – April 22, 2020 –As the sun broke over the horizon on Earth Day, TicketNetwork's rooftop solar array quietly resumed adding to its already impressive resume of environmental benefits – racked up in less than a year of service. The centerpiece of the ticket resale leader's Green Initiative, the 1.4MW array is one of three energy-generating systems employed by the company, joined by similar rooftop arrays at smaller properties nearby owned by its CEO.
To date, the headquarters array has generated energy to cover approximately 70 percent of the building's energy use. This has prevented the use of an equivalent of 1,460 barrels of oil, offsetting an estimated 1.39 million pounds of carbon dioxide – similar in impact to adding more than 16,000 decade old trees to the area. Two other arrays sit atop buildings in Vernon generating an additional 100-150KW each.

"I can't begin to describe how pleased we are with the impact this project has already had on our community," says TicketNetwork CEO Don Vaccaro. "It benefits our business by helping reduce our own reliance on the electrical grid but goes far beyond that. It's important to us to be a leader and role model for other businesses in our community, and this project's impact is a big part of that."
The solar roof project brought online in April 2019, slowly increasing to full capacity over several weeks, and then celebrated with a formal ribbon cutting event in October. By the time of its official unveiling, the rooftop array had already produced more than 900,000 kWh of electricity. Nearing its first anniversary since activation, that number just surpassed 1.4 million kWh.
Serving as a responsible environmental steward has long been a goal of TicketNetwork, which also features community gardens and orchards as well as an animal sanctuary at its corporate headquarters. Employees have long enjoyed fresh fruit and vegetables, walks in the undeveloped woodland at the west end of company property, and stress-relieving visits to the chickens, goats, llamas, and pigs on the farm.
Installed by EnterSolar, the rooftop system covers almost 200,000 square feet, the bulk of the building's roof. The project is expected to provide a full return on the capital expenditure of its installation in under four years, with environmental benefits that continue for decades to come.
